The ICDAS Foundation charity has a vision which is: to improve human health worldwide by the prevention and control of dental caries throughout life.

The core of this international collaborative work has been the development of the harmonised, evidence based, ICDAS classification system for detecting, staging and assessing dental caries by clinical visual examination. The system is designed to facilitate  caries epidemiology, research, education and appropriate clinical management.

ICDAS has been used in more than 850 peer-reviewed publications since 2004 from 47 Countries in 233 Journals using  11 languages.
